Sarah DiMarino is participating in the 2017 Dream Mountains Kilimanjaro climb, in support of the SOS Children’s Villages.
As many of my friends and family know, two years ago, a challenge like climbing Kilimanjaro seemed completely out of reach. I had been in a serious car accident, and spent several months in a wheelchair. If someone had told me I would be planning a trip in 2017 to undertake this incredible journey, I wouldn't have believed them. While I'm sure that training and the climb itself will present real physical challenges for me, I'm excited to have such an amazing goal to work towards.
In addition to the personal goal of reaching the summit, my even bigger hope is to raise funds for SOS Children's Villages while doing so. SOS Children's Villages is the world's largest charity dedicated to orphaned and abandoned children. They provide children in need with a loving and secure home where their basic needs for food, shelter and education are met. In 134 countries, Children's Villages offers children a mother, brothers and sisters, a home, and as the name implies, a village, usually made up of 10-15 houses that create a stable and secure environment for these special kids. For more information on SOS Children's Villages, please visit their website at www.soschildrensvillages.ca
This year, The Dream Mountains Foundation hopes to reach a fundraising goal of breaking the million dollar fundraising mark since it's inception. Please join me in my goal to support SOS Children's Villages, and to help the foundation to reach it's incredible target by donating below.
