Shelley McGoff is participating in the 2017 Dream Mountains Kilimanjaro climb, in support of the SOS Children’s Villages.
Having been to Africa before, I am well aware of the beauty the land has to offer. It is by far my favourite place I have ever been and could not be more excited to return especially on these terms. In 2017 I will be turning 30 and set a personal goal to climb Mount Kilimanjaro before that day comes. Thanks to the Dream Team 2017 I will be accomplishing this goal while raising money for SOS Children’s Village.
The charity that resonates most with me is SOS Children’s Village. Professionally I am a Youth Probation Officer currently working in Northern Ontario. I have seen firsthand the consequences of a lack of a loving, stable home on youth. SOS Children’s Village is a charity that provides homes for children who have been abandoned and orphaned or their basic needs such as shelter, food and education are not being met. They work to ensure their basic needs are met and positive social change occurs. SOS Children’s Village is the world’s largest family, as they have provided children with homes from infancy to adulthood, not only helping children but raising them. The Dream team hopes to raise awareness for the seven charities involved and a total of $ 100 000. As a member of the team, I commit to raise a minimum of $5000 for my charity.
I’m always up for an adventure; I rarely back down from a challenge and look forward to meeting other inspiring people and reaching the top of Kilimanjaro with them. I would like to thank everyone in advance for their support; all donation sizes are appreciated and will go directly to SOS Children’s Village. Please check out their website www.soschildrensvillages.ca to learn more about the work they do.
