As one of 5 new additions to the Dream Team, I am thrilled to share that I will be taking part in my first Dream Mountains Trek to Everest Base Camp next spring.
Most exciting is the fact that the team will be climbing in support of 7 local charities. This year I will be representing the Ottawa Network for Education’s (ONFE) School Breakfast Program.
For reasons out of their control, many children and youth are forced to attend school hungry. Research shows that a healthy breakfast can help increase learning, attendance and self esteem in these students. The ONFE School Breakfast Program strives to ensure that every one of them has access to an equal opportunity to succeed in school.
In collaboration with local businesses, community based organisations and volunteers; the program provides 12000 students across all 4 Ottawa school boards with a healthy breakfast that adheres to ministry nutrition guidelines.
With a degree in pediatric nursing, as well as a passion for health – I have seen firsthand the difference good nutrition can make.
As food costs rise, so does the challenge to meet the needs of these hungry students; please help me fundraise for this essential cause by sponsoring my Trek.
Every dollar is appreciated,
